Cassandra deLarios

grew up in Cypress, TX (NW Houston). In college she studied dance but graduated with a BFA in Fashion Design from the University of North Texas, class of 1992. From 1993-1996 she ran her own clothing company called FLY. Feeling the need to do something more meaningful to help others, she began a career as a professional massage therapist and day spa manager in 1996. Around this time she began a modest but daily hatha yoga practice and studied Tibetan Buddhism with the New Kadampa Tradition under the careful guidance of Gen Kelsang Sangye.

Until finding Marj Rash at the Y around 1999, Cassandra had no formal yoga instruction, but the effects were immediately apparent! At the urging of friends, she finally decided to teach yoga in 2004, feeling it to be an even better method for facilitating healing in others. Her foundational instruction was Iyengar-based, with Peggy Kelly and her mentor Acharya Paula Weithman. She has also studied with Master Rod Stryker, Shri Dharma Mittra, Anusara-inspired Mira Shani, Jivamukti teacher deAnna Anderson and too many other amazing teachers to mention...

In 2005 she met her gurus Geshe Michael Roach, Lama Christie McNally, and Lama Sumati Marut who were already teaching a form of yoga (Tibetan Heart Yoga) that she herself would have developed if they hadn't, as it is the integration of all her other studies! Out of profound gratitude, she regularly travels to serve the tradition and learn from them. Cassandra has been a certified teacher of Tibetan Heart Yoga since 2006, and has taught it's holy method in New York, Vancouver, and at Diamond Mountain University. She recently graduated from the Asian Classics Institute's eighteen courses of a geshe.

Cassandra maintains her massage therapy and massage therapy instructor registrations in Texas. Favorite modalities including Reiki, aromatherapy, hot stone, Thai Yoga, Marma Chikitsa and Shirodhara. Her Ayurvedic training has been with Dr. Vasant Lad, founder of the Ayurvedic Institute.

Cassandra combines an educated, therapeutic approach to asana with philosophical insight to help students integrate all aspects of practice and is committed to helping those who are ready find the inner wisdom and compassion that will reflect a more harmonious world for all beings!
